The Popsicle Deck

In collaboration with the Skateboard Supercross Academy at the Ningbo International School in China we designed this graphic to be fun for children while embracing “China made” products. Often times blank decks from China are referred to as “popsicle sticks” because they represent a generic form of a street skateboard. By appropriating the image of a popsicle stick and making into a dynamic fun pattern reminiscent of sprinkles or confetti the idea was to defy the stigma and celebrate that in China this is a quality locally made product.

The sample picture in the slideshow at right was printed on a blue veneer. Each one was printed on a different color adding to the explosion of unique color in this graphic.
